Anyway, it's Wednesday so we all know what that means-- PROMPT! And this is a good one. So without boring you any longer, here is our special prompt!

Prompt Twenty- Best New Years Ever!

So it's the best time at your New Years Eve party. You had so much fun that you don't remember much of it at all. While nursing a hangover, a friend calls saying, "I''m so pumped we're doing this new years resolution together. I know it's unusual, but doing it together will make it easier. I'll pick you up in an hour."

Write a scene starting with the car ride with your friend, trying to figure out what the resolution is. 500 words or fewer.

My response...

What did I get myself into? I hop into the passenger side, in an outfit that could fit into any category. I had no idea what we're doing or why so I just threw on some yoga pants and a sweater. With my water bottle in hand, since my head refuses to stop throbbing, I buckle my belt and wait for my best friend, Kara, to explain what's going on.

"How stoked are you?" she squeals as the car starts up. "I mean, I know this is weird and all but I'm so happy we googled it and found it for today. I would have totally backed out!" she rambled on and on while my dumb wide eyes just stare, trying to find a hint at what we're doing.

"I can't believe we're doing this either..." I mumble, hoping I'm saying the right thing.

"I'm glad you didn't dress up because I was going to but then I figured we could be casual. We shoulda collaborated. Oh, damn. Whatever, we're doing this." She plasters a smile on her face while pulling into the rickety old bowling alley.

"We're bowling," I mutter under my breath.

"Not just bowling, you dumb dumb." She frowns across the car at me. "We're speed dating!"

My heart literally falls out of my chest. It drops out my ass onto the car floor, convulsing in nervous rhythms. Speed dating? I don't date. I don't date since I was dumped to the curb, kicked out of my home and then ditched. Obviously, I'm still bitter.

Maybe this is good?
