5 New Year's Resolutions For Writers

I want to welcome 2015 the right way! If you're into New Year's Resolutions, then you've found the right spot. Personally, I don't think I've ever actually stuck to one, so this year, I'm doing writing resolutions and you guys have to make me complete them. Every month I will do an update on my progress and you can either cheer for me or yell at me.

1. Try a new genre

I'm not going to lie, I've already started doing this with my serial, The Last Legacy. But I really want to finish that project strong and stick to my guns. Trying new things is hard, but it broadens our horizons. Try a new genre or style and finish it!
2. Write every single day. Yes. Every single day

I attempted doing this but between school, my wedding, my life and whatever else has been thrown my way, I got lost. Especially during this holiday season. But starting January 1st, I will write every day. It's important to just sit down and write. It may be crap, but you've done something!
3. Read more

Another thing that got lost along the way in 2014. I miss reading, and I'm going to make it a point in 2015 to read at least one book a week. Reading helps writers in so many ways, I can't even explain it in this one post. So read more, because it'll only help your writing. PS. Any book recommendations?
4. Self-Edit with a Feather

My creative writing professor constantly was saying edit with a feather and this year, I'm going to do it. I bought this awesome book on amazon, I'll link after I've read it (LOL) about self-editing and as an indie author, it's important to self-edit as much as possible. So this year, I'm working on it!
5. Market the Hell out of myself

I'm not very good at promoting myself. I never want to sound braggy, but on the same note, people need to know that my books are good. 2015 is going to be a promising year, with many new releases for me. I'm going to use my blog, website, Facebook, and twitter to promote the hell out of my books and myself. Starting now. Subscribe to my newsletter :)

BONUS. Finish all of my current projects.

I have a busy writing schedule for 2015 and I really really want to stay on track. That means all these previous resolutions have to go well. But I would like to finish the projects I've already begun by the end of 2015. It's a large task since I have so many WIPs (7), but one I'm ready to take on.

What is your New Year's Resolution?

I want to wish you all a safe, happy, and healthy New Year! Enjoy the life you have and always strive to be the best you can be. I wish you all well in 2015. Let's party!
